Join a Youth Program

We are extremely fortunate to serve a community that has so many youth who wish to share their time and talents in support of the animal center. There are many ways that children can get involved, including customizable experiences for individuals or groups.  Submit the interest form and our Education Coordinator will get in touch with you to get your child or group started.

Service Projects

Youth Service Days at the animal center are a great way for young volunteers to learn about, tour the center and help with special projects that make things better for the animals in our care.

For those who are looking for projects that can be completed at home, in a classroom, or other settings away from the center, you can use this Service Project Booklet to make toys, beds, and other items that will be used by the animals.  There are options for all skill levels and if you'd like, we'd be happy to schedule a time for you to drop off the items and tour the center.

Donation Drives

Donation drives are a fun way for children to support the center and they are always welcomed.  We’ll share our wish lists, they collect the items then you schedule a time for them to deliver the goods and get a tour.

Scout Programs

Our specially designed classes give your girl and boy scouts an opportunity to earn their animal-related badges at the center. Simply choose which badge(s) you are interested in and schedule the class. Donation drives are a fun way for your scouts to support the center and they are always welcomed.  We’ll share our wish lists, your scouts collect the items then you schedule a time for them to deliver the goods and get a tour.

Book Buddies Reading Program

Book Buddies is a program that benefits both young readers and the cats in our care by providing a non-judgmental space for children to practice their reading skills and cats to receive social interaction that makes them more adoptable. The accompanying adult and children five to 12 years old attend a short class to learn about the details of the program and basic cat behavior. After which, the new Book Buddy can read to cats living in our eight free-roaming "catios".
