About WCAC

Williamson County Animal Center is a public, open-intake shelter that serves the citizens of Williamson County.  We are a county government, tax-funded agency that annually receives approximately 4,000 domestic animals and has a 97% live release rate. We have the ability to house up to 160 cats and 90 dogs as well as numerous "other" animals in our 35,000 sq. ft. facility, including holding pens for livestock. Our state-of-the-art building, programs and services are designed to offer the animals we care for and our community members the best experience a shelter can provide.

Our Mission

To make things better for animals in Williamson County, Tennessee through adoption, education, enforcement and pet population control.

Our Goal

To partner with our community to find a good home for every adoptable pet, slow pet population growth, end animal neglect and abuse and be a positive force in the community.

Much More than Adoptions

We believe that the way to make things better for animals is to engage people and partner with our community.  With a focus on humane education, responsible pet ownership and safety net programs, we strive to be a resource for any challenge a pet owner faces.

Changing the Way We Shelter

Williamson County earned a national achievement award for Civic Education and Public Information in 2022 through the animal center.  The National Association of Counties recognized our programs and services that engage the community through education, support, and free or low-cost resources to assist pet owners.

We are extremely grateful for the support that we receive from the following:
