Weekly Cat Volunteers
To volunteer alone with cats you must be 14 years of age or older. Children younger than 14 may volunteer with an adult as “junior volunteers”. If you are under 14 and wish to volunteer with cats, you must attend orientation and training with the adult who will be volunteering with you.
Volunteer duties include socializing cats, grooming, helping adopters find their perfect pet, assembling adoption carriers, working adoption events and just providing lots of love to the cats and kittens in our care. Volunteer shifts are one hour long. We do ask that any volunteer who signs up to train is willing to work a minimum of one shift per week.
Volunteer shifts are totally flexible, you can sign up for your shift a week before, a day before or an hour before you come in. Volunteer shifts begin at 10am and end when we close at 6pm on Monday – Friday and on weekends from 10am-3pm. *Volunteers who do not fulfill the minimum hours are moved to an inactive status and will be required to retrain.
Orientation and training are offered monthly. You are not required to sign up or fill out any type of application first. Simply attend the orientation that works best for you and we will take it from there. The remaining dates for orientations in 2022 are listed below.
Please be sure to read through all the information before attending:
Each orientation is a three-part commitment. The first session is an hour long. Immediately following, you will sign up for a second session. Multiple times and dates will be available, so please bring your calendar. This is a hands-on detailed training. The final session is simply a shadowing. You will sign up and put on your apron to volunteer along-side a green apron volunteer.
We know this seems like a lot of information, but we promise it will all make sense when we see you in person.
Orientations and trainings are held at the center, located at 1006 Grigsby Hayes Court in Franklin.
We look forward to seeing you there!
